   Spring is around the corner and I for one am done with winter!

   As I write this month’s article, I see breaking news from East Palestine, OH where 50 train cars, ten of which were carrying hazardous materials derailed in a fiery crash on the night of Feb 3.<

   Ever had one of those times when you forget which hat you are wearing? It always seems that firefighters are involved in more than just one organization or group, or whatever.

   March is here. We all know that means warming temperatures, High School State tournaments, and at least one more blizzard. 

   Feb. 1, 2023: 2023 Firefighter Day On The Hill Chili Cookoff, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 1^st floor rotunda, Capitol, Des Moines.

   Face it, the fire department is much more than fighting fires. We are the ones that get called when others simply don’t know what to do or who to call.
