     The Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 4400 block of Kimm St., Rapid Valley, unincorporated, Pennington County, SD on Feb.

     It is Ground Hog’s Day as I begin this month’s article. I’m sure most of you remember the movie with Bill Murray in Ground Hogs Day.

     The legislative bills the fire service and emergency services have been working on and watching closely made some good progress.

Feb. 1, 2021: EMS Day 2021, social in the evening held at the Ramkota in Pierre.

Feb. 5, 6 & 7, 2021: 2021 Les Lukert Winter Conference, Kearney.

     There is a picture that hangs in our fire station that has always sparked my curiosity. It is a hand drawn cartoon of a firefighting scene. There is no date on it, but it is old.

Evansdale Fire responded to a residential fire at 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 17. Sleeping residents were alerted by the Evansdale Police Department and safely evacuated.

Scottsbluff and Gering Fire Departments responded to a structure fire on Jan. 9. Fire was visible through the roof when firefighters arrived. Submitted by Anthony J. Murphy, Fire Marshal.
